Of course, one of the best things about Spain is its incredible food. Whether you’re indulging in paella on the coast or enjoying tapas in a cozy bar in Seville, the cuisine in Spain is truly unforgettable. And with so many different regions and culinary traditions to explore, there is always something new and exciting to try. In this article, I’ll share some of my favourite places to visit in Spain, from the well-known tourist hotspots to hidden gems you may not have heard of before.

Spain is famous for its food and many unique places to indulge. Here are some of my favourite spots:
San Sebastian, Basque Country
San Sebastian is a beautiful coastal city in the Basque Country, and it’s known for its incredible food scene. The city has more Michelin-starred restaurants per capita than any other city worldwide. There are plenty of more affordable pintxos bars where you can sample traditional Basque tapas. Some must-try dishes in San Sebastian include bacalao al pil pil, a salt cod dish in garlic and olive oil, and txuleton, a thick, juicy steak.
La Boqueria Market
La Boqueria Market is a food lover’s paradise in the heart of Barcelona. The market has been around since the 13th century and is home to over 200 vendors selling everything from fresh seafood to exotic fruits. Some of the must-try dishes at La Boqueria include jamón ibérico, cured ham, and fresh oysters. The market can get crowded, so it’s best to visit early in the morning.
Outdoor Activities
If you’re an adventure seeker like me, you’ll want to check out some of Spain’s amazing outdoor activities. From hiking to rock climbing, Spain has it all. Here are some of my favourite outdoor activities:
Camino de Santiago
The Camino de Santiago is a famous pilgrimage route in Spain that attracts thousands of visitors annually. It’s a great way to see the country and experience its culture. The trail is well-marked, with plenty of places to stay. I highly recommend taking the time to walk at least part of the trail if you can.
Serra de Tramuntana
The Serra de Tramuntana is a mountain range located in the northwestern part of Mallorca. It’s an excellent place for hiking and offers some fantastic island views. There are several hiking trails, ranging from easy to complex. I recommend taking a guided tour to get the most out of your experience.
Pyrenees Mountains
The Pyrenees Mountains are located in northeastern Spain and offer some of the best hiking and skiing in the country. The mountains are home to several national parks, including Aigüestortes I Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. If you’re looking for a challenge, try climbing the Pico de Aneto, the highest peak in the Pyrenees.
Picos de Europa National Park
The Picos de Europa National Park is located in northern Spain and is one of the country’s most beautiful natural parks. It’s an excellent place for hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. The park is home to several peaks, including the famous Naranjo de Bulnes. If you’re looking for a challenge, try climbing this peak.
